Geochemical Techniques in Geothermal Development: an Update
نویسنده
چکیده
The ultimate goal of geochemical studies of geothermal systems is to understand the physical-chemical processes responsible for their origin and evolution. The chemical composition of fluids (separated vapor and water), collected from fumaroles, hot springs and drilled wells at the Earth’s surface (25oC) is determined in the laboratory. Using the chemical geothermometers, conservation of mass, energy and alkalinity, and distribution coefficients for gaseous species, the chemical concentrations are converted to the reservoir conditions in order to predict the state of water-rock interaction and reservoir processes like boiling, condensation, mixing with other fluids, mineral dissolution-precipitation, etc.

Effect of Temperature and Solution Composition on the Permeability
Understanding of the permeability of reservoir rocks at elevated temperature is becoming increasingly important both in oil field development and stimulation and in geothermal energy production. Rock properties such as permeability are often measured at ambient conditions with reservoir characteristics then based on these ambient measurements. liowever, rock and fluid properties may be radicall...
متن کاملAn update on the new achievements in the nanocapsulation of anthocyanins
Natural food pigments are commonly utilized for the improvement of the qualitative properties of foods and/or inhibit the development of chronic and degenerative diseases. Several studies have documented the beneficial health effects of natural food pigments, such as anthocyanins, chlorophylls, and carotenoids. These effects mainly depend on the stability, bioactivity, and bioavailability of th...

A geothermal reservoir causes inhomogeneity in the physical properties of the subsurface geology due to the high changes in temperature. These physical properties can be ob‐ served by means of varying anomalies from geophysical observations from the surface. These physical properties include electrical conductivity, rock density, magnetic suscepti‐ bility, rock elasticity, and, finally, the tem...
متن کاملGeothermal Energy for Natural Gas Compressor Stations; an Environmental and Economical Assessment
Iran’s environmental condition is critical, since it is experiencing desertification, unsustainable development and overpopulation. The objective of this study is power source replacement in natural gas stations that operate with natural gas compressors, through using electrical motors, which can be fed by a 160 MW geothermal power plant, as an alternative to gas turbines. Application of such a...

Following a period of exploration and development in the mid-late 1970’s, there was little activity at the Raft River geothermal field for the next ~20 years. US Geothermal Inc. acquired the project in 2002, and began commercial power generation in January 2008. From mid-2004 to present, US Geothermal Inc. has collected geochemical data from geothermal and monitoring wells in the field, as well...
